Is Your Life Too Sweet?

sugar-drink

Aside from causing cavities and decay, many sugary drinks can stain your teeth, dulling their sparkle.

It’s something most people strive for—many may see living a “sweet life” as a compliment, but not if we’re talking about your teeth! With the over-consumption of sugary beverages running high across the world, it’s possible that your life can actually be too sweet.

The Problem With Sugary Drinks

We all know sugar isn’t great for your teeth—but it can also wreak havoc on other parts of your body with links to obesity and diabetes among others. In fact, just one sugary drink each day is more than enough to give you a toothache, leading to cavities and decay.

Instead of reaching for a sweet beverage, consider choosing water as a healthy, teeth-friendly alternative that your body will thank you for.

Combat Sugary Drinks with More Water

Just as brushing and flossing are great ways to combat cavities, choosing water is healthy for your teeth. If you have a hard time fitting water into your diet, here are a few ways you can sneak it in:

  1. Always keep a chilled pitcher of water in the refrigerator. This way you and your family have the alternative sitting right in front of you.
  2. Add some flavor to your water with fruit. Strawberries, cucumbers or lemon are all great options for adding some zest to your drink.
  3. Purchase a reusable water bottle. You can even set goals for yourself to drink several bottles each day.
  4. Do it for your kids. Instead of reaching for a juice or soda, choose water to set a good example for future generations.
